The Trend Squad’s vision is to use data, design intuition and trend forecasting to create relevant and beautiful content for our users.To position Canva as a Trend Taste maker in order to driving adoption and change perception about Canva as a tool of choice for designers & trend adopters.
Our mission is to expand our content library with trend focussed content and diversify our audience to drive MAU growth & revenue.
Our method is that we create content which harnesses current and emerging trends (visual & behavioural).
Our goal is to empower every user to design on trend.

Psychedelic Template Campaign

  • Psychedelics are an emerging trend across various industries - vogue has recognised the trend's influence on this year's fashion and Harry Styles has just produced a wellness & beauty brand influenced by psychedelics.

  • In the visual realm the trend has been earmarked - The Dieline, Later Media, Monotype and itsnicethat have all recognised the behavioural trend's influence on visual styles for 2022.

  • We created 200 original templates (with 200 resizes) and worked across Print and Digital doctypes.

Result: Over 1.3 million user applies with a publish rate of 0.68 (400 templates)

Sustainable Beauty Template Campaign

  • Sustainability has transcended trend state and has become relevant to all key consumer sectors in one way or another. Beauty Content is popular on Canva already, so we'll be looking at an already popular topic through the highly popular lens of sustainability.

Result: Over 200k template applies with a publish rate of 0.73 (240 templates)

Inclusive Skincare Template Campaign

  • We want to fill a gap in the library for inclusive/representative skincare content and contribute to normalising skincare and beauty for all through a current, trendy, inclusive and gender neutral approach.

  • Consumers across the board are calling to be represented by brands.

  • Lead the way for inclusive design and the consumer trend of inclusive skincare.

Result: Over 300k template applies with a publish rate of 0.83 (300 templates)

The brief: Create a content campaign that addresses a gap in Canva's library and meets our business objectives for template production. Collaborate closely with contractors and element producers to produce content that performs and is trend-focused and user-friendly.
